The Angier After School Program (AASP) has been a staple of the Waban community in Newton for over 40 years, serving students in grades K-5. AASP is a non-profit program that is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and strives to bring a safe, fun and engaging environment to all children while also promoting rich social interactions, emotional growth, and self-awareness.
We are currently seeking people who are professional, enthusiastic, creative, and would enjoy having a meaningful impact on young children’s lives. Qualified individuals must be comfortable supervising children ages 5 -12 in a mixed age group setting and have the ability to work closely with others in a team-oriented environment. General responsibilities include planning, leading, and assisting age appropriate group activities and engaging in hands-on activities and games with the children. Our curriculum typically includes art, theater, sports, nature, and STEM activities. AASP has a rich tradition of live performances so any experience with drama/music is a plus.
This position is 21 hours/week – Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 2:30pm-6:00pm and Tuesday: 11:00am-6:00pm, plus 4 early release Thursdays and 2 early release Wednesdays (12:00-6:00) over the course of the school year. Candidates available for a reduced schedule (3-4 days/week) may also be considered. Our location is accessible by T (D Line).
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Experience working with children ages 5-12 in a mixed age group setting
• All candidates will be required to complete the necessary forms for a background check
Offering $16-$19/hr commensurate with experience and education, plus benefits (health and dental insurance for employees working a minimum of 20 hrs/week, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time). Position is available beginning August 27th.
