October and Halloween have come and gone and November is upon us with Hanukkah and Thanksgiving rapidly approaching.
This year, as always, we will be holding our annual Oxfam® Hunger Banquet the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 28th.
- During snack-time each child will be provided a snack consisting of pasta. Different amounts of pasta and a choice of sauces/toppings will also be provided based on the class that each child is assigned from the chip that they drew at random.
- Every Tuesday during the month of November we have been sharing information with the children about the state of the world around us, through stories, videos and other types of informative discussion.
- This year, we will again be accepting donations, all of which will be going directly to support Oxfam® America. It is our hope that this will encourage students to take a more active level of participation in Oxfam®, fostering thought and conversation outside of the program, and providing students the opportunity to think and reflect on the message of Oxfam® when discussing donations with their parents. We will be accepting donations until the end of the month of November.
We will also be having another early release on Thursday, December 5th and, you guessed it, that means another field trip! This time we will be taking a trip to go ice skating at the Frog Pond on Boston Common. This is always a fun and popular trip. If your child would like to join us, you can pick up a permission slip on the cubbies outside of the Main Room or just download it here.
And last but not least, we just want to remind everyone that AASP will be closed the day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday, November 27th).
For more details on the Oxfam® Hunger Banquet, the upcoming field trip, or the Alumni v. All Stars Game please check out our AASP Events page. If you have any specific questions about Oxfam® or how the Hunger Banquet works, or anything else, please feel free to contact us by email or stop by the Main Room at any time to speak to a teacher. We hope everyone has a great rest of November and enjoys the upcoming holidays!
